Statement from President Joe Biden
Released by The White House October 11, 2022
Today, I am announcing that the United States will provide Ukraine with an additional $725 million in security assistance. This brings the total U.S. commitment of security assistance to Ukraine to more than $17.5 billion since the beginning of my Administration.
This new package includes:
- Additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS)
- 23,000 155mm artillery rounds
- 500 precision-guided 155mm artillery rounds
- 5,000 anti-tank rockets
- 200 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles
- Small arms and other equipment
This package of assistance is carefully calibrated to make the most difference on the battlefield and strengthen Ukraine’s hand at the negotiating table.
The United States stands with Ukraine. We will continue to provide Ukraine with the security assistance it needs to defend itself and to deter further Russian aggression. We will also continue to work with our allies and partners to hold Russia accountable for its war crimes and atrocities.
Together, we will continue to support Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
